The velour cover is removable and washable as well as waterproof to protect the mattress from night time accidents.

I just purchased this mattress for my boys who are 6 and 4. They love it! it's very comfortable, a bit firmer than expected, but because it's memory foam it's very comfortable. I really like the removable cover feature too.
